<guide type="tools,color,diffuse" title="Delight Tool">

<step title="Open an Image to Delight">

<cmd ed="{PBR?color|diffuse}" type="activate"/>
<cmd tool="delight" type="activate"/>
<cmd type="nextOpen" ed="{PBR?color|diffuse}" />

<p>The Delight tool removes shadow and light information from photos, which is specially useful in the Base Color map of the PBR Workflow but can also help removing excessive shading information from a Diffuse map.</p>

<p>The Delight tool works better in images with small shadows created by its own elements and not so much with areas of large shadows.</p>

<p>To start, open an image in the {PBR?Base Color|Diffuse} Editor. To see Delight in action, select a photo which contains some shadows.</p>

</step>

<step title="Strength Setting">

<cmd tool="delight" type="activate"/>

<p>Increase the Strength slider by moving it to the right.</p>

<p>Notice the shadow and light information progressively disappearing, replaced by color information.</p>

</step>

<step title="Intensity Bias">

<p>Light and shading information is removed, leaving in its place color information at a certain intensity or brightness level. If this level is not be adequate, you can use the Intensity Bias slider to offset the overall brightness.</p>

<p>Try changing the Intensity Bias to understand the offset being applied.</p>

</step>

<step title="Repair Setting">

<p>Areas of extreme darkness or brightness in a source image can overflow the residual color information available. Faint color information can also be destroyed on some file types with lossy compression, due to quantization.</p>

<p>The Repair slider tries to fix color anomalies introduced by the reasons above. If you notice spots with abnormal color when delighting, increase this slider to try correcting those areas.</p>

<p>The map should now be delighted. However if the original image had very strong shadows or highlights, the Delight tool might not be able to recover color information, and you may need to manually correct it in the Paint or even Keying tools.</p>
